Canada is bringing us an anthem for this summer with Vancouver DJ & Producer Sivz teaming up with fellow Vancouver rapper & songwriter Tinywiings to bring us “True Colours”.
Inspired by rap vocals heard on tracks by some of her favourite producers like Blackchild and Marcellus (UK), Sivz was determined to write an angry break up track to channel some of her own emotions in 2021. Taking a personal retreat to a BC island, she put pen to paper to spit out some rhymes before getting started on composing the accompanying music. With a strong concept in mind, she began searching for the right collaborator to help bring her ideas to life.
When she connected with Tinywiings over Instagram, she knew she had found the perfect lyricist and vocalist for the job. Joining her dark tech house instrumental with Tinywiing’s catchy lyrics and a voice filled with sass, Sivz knew she was onto something. Working in her signature percussion, vocal chops, and experimenting with an acid lead for the first time, Sivz continued to craft the track into a late-night dance anthem best suited for her afterhours sets. What resulted was True Colours, an angry tech house belter that will have you proudly giving your ex the middle finger!
