With upcoming tour dates (six in the US) and a new single released this past week, the Brooklyn-based electronic rock sensations RATATAT are primed for a big year back in the spotlight in 2015. Among their US Tour dates (following Coachella), the duo will perform at HARD Summer and now they've announced a release date for a new full-length album, “Magnifique.” Their last release
With the band's evolution towards live percussion by Mike Stroud (a guitarist who has toured with Ben Kweller and Dashboard Confessional) and keyboards from Evan Mast, their new single produced by Perfect Branch called “Intro” leaves us with some excitement for the future of RATATAT. Check out the video below for the new track, number one of 14 on their new album, “Mystique” on XL Recordings.
Since the band changed it's name from Cherry to Ratatat in 2003-2004, they had a self-titled debut album, followed by a self-released remix album, then put out two LP's in 2010 – following a short recording period. Both artists maintain busy musical careers outside of RATATAT. The duo confesses that the album was recorded over the past four years in Jamaica, New York, Long Island, and their home studio in Brooklyn.
You can pre-order “Magnifique” on iTunes (or Google Play and XL Store) here and make sure to check out their Facebook and website for news and updates on their upcoming tour dates! They'll be in Spain in about ten days, then France, and back to New York for a show at the Governor's Ball on June 6th. Listen to “Intro” below and watch the official video.
